Safe Haven Shelter
Leaving domestic violence takes courage. Beginning again takes safety, support, and time.
Safe Haven provides women and children affected by domestic violence with a peaceful home and a year-long recovery program—all completely free of charge. Here, women have the space to recover, and children have the freedom to feel safe, play, and be children again.
If you’re reading this and need help leaving an abusive relationship, you can call our confidential, anonymous helpline. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We’ll listen and help you explore your next steps.
About Safe Haven
Our support begins before a woman arrives. Women can call us for psychological and emotional support as they prepare to leave an abusive relationship. We walk alongside them, step by step, as they move toward safety and begin rebuilding their lives.
When we searched for a home for Safe Haven, the setting mattered. We intentionally chose a quiet, wooded location where women could step away from fear and begin to experience peace.
Set on 10 acres, Safe Haven includes three homes with space for 33 residents. Its retreat-like surroundings offer room to rest, reflect, and recover in a welcoming environment.
Throughout their stay, women and children receive housing, meals, clothing, and everyday essentials at no cost. With their basic needs cared for, women can focus on their recovery and their children without the immediate pressure of providing for the household.
We plan to expand so that more women and children can find a place here.

Over the past six years, Safe Haven has provided shelter to:
Each arrival marks a step toward safety. Our purpose is to give women and children the time, care, and support they need to begin again.
Our Program
At the heart of Safe Haven is Fabulous Woman, our original psychological and emotional recovery program.
One year
Over the course of one year, the program helps women work through the effects of abuse, rebuild their sense of self-worth, find peace within themselves, and prepare for life beyond the shelter.
It is a time to rediscover their voice, recognize their strengths, and take practical steps toward a new chapter.
For children
Children need more than a place to stay. They need an environment where they can feel secure, explore, and play.
Safe Haven offers welcoming spaces for children, including a playground and dedicated play areas. We create an atmosphere of care and stability where children can begin to experience the everyday joys of childhood.
Everyday help
Alongside housing and recovery support, volunteers provide guidance on legal questions, helping women better understand their options as they navigate their next steps.
Stories of Hope
To protect the safety and privacy of the women and children we serve, some names and identifying details have been changed, and some stories appear without photographs. Every story is shared with permission.
Our Volunteers
Safe Haven is currently supported by six volunteers, five of whom live on the property. Their presence helps create a consistent, caring community for the women and children who call it home.
